Prudential Financial has disclosed a hacker gained unauthorized access to its systems earlier this month.
In a Feb. 13 filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Prudential said that on Feb 5 it detected a threat actor — believed to be a cybercrime group — gained access to its computer systems beginning Feb. 4 and immediately initiated its cyber incident response plan.
As of the date of the filing, Newark, New Jersey-based Prudential said the hackers “accessed company administrative and user data from certain information technology systems and a small percentage of company user accounts associated with employees and contractors,” and based on its initial investigation there is no evidence and customer or client date was stolen.
Prudential said it notified law enforcement and regulators, and continues to investigate the cyberattack to assess its impact. The incident has not had an impact on Prudential’s operations, the company said.
