One of Lindberg’s Attorneys Withdraws Two Months Before Retrial Set to Begin *Centurion Insurance AFS*

Embattled former insurance executive and entrepreneur Greg Lindberg has asked for a new attorney to represent him, less than two months before his second trial on bribery charges is set to begin.

A federal magistrate judge this week granted a request to allow attorney Aaron Tobin, of the Dallas-based firm of Condon Tobin Sladek Thornton Nerenberg, to withdraw as Lindberg’s lawyer.

“Mr. Lindberg has retained Wyatt and Blake as local counsel and no longer needs Mr. Tobin’s services for the retrial of this matter,” Judge David Keesler wrote in his order. The motion and order gave no further reason for Tobin’s withdrawal.

The Wyatt & Blake firm is based in Charlotte, North Carolina, and specializes in defending white-collar criminal accusations, its website shows. Attorney James Wyatt has been involved in the Lindberg case since 2022, court records show.

Lindberg was convicted in 2020 of attempting to bribe North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey in return for more lenient regulation of his property/casualty and life insurance companies, including allowing lower reserve levels by the carriers.

The conviction was overturned due to what a federal appeals court said was faulty jury instructions by the trial judge. Lindberg’s second trial is set to begin May 6.

The criminal trial is one of several legal proceedings Lindberg is embroiled in. See related article: NC Appeals Court Gives Green Light to Liquidation of Lindberg Insurance Firms.
